TS Galaxy winger Puso Dithejane has officially joined Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire, ending speculation linking him with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
✍️ Chicago Fire Confirm the Deal
The MLS outfit announced the signing with a short but warm message: “Welcome to the Club, Puso. We have acquired winger Puso Dithejane from TS Galaxy F.C. of South Africa’s Betway Premiership.”
The 21-year-old, a product of the Transnet School of Excellence, now embarks on his first international adventure in the United States.
🌟 Rise at TS Galaxy
Born in Christiana, North West, Dithejane’s career took off at TS Galaxy. Initially recruited as a right-back, he was transformed into an attacking midfielder and winger by former coach Sead Ramovic.
His breakthrough season saw him deliver four goals and six assists in just 15 league matches, performances that quickly caught the attention of South Africa’s biggest clubs.
⚽ Chiefs and Sundowns Interest
- Kaizer Chiefs: Chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed the player had been contacted by figures such as Kaizer Motaung Jr, scout Tera Maliwa, and coach Vela Khumalo, while his father was approached by Bobby Motaung. Despite this, no formal negotiations were ever held.
- Mamelodi Sundowns: According to journalist Mazola Molefe, Sundowns tabled an official offer, but Galaxy rejected it outright.
Sukazi emphasized that while clubs were free to speak with the player, any transfer would need to be finalized directly with TS Galaxy.
🔥 Chicago Fire Move Decisively
With both Chiefs and Sundowns unable to secure his services, Chicago Fire stepped in to clinch the deal, landing one of the most promising young attackers in the Betway Premiership.
The move also reunites Dithejane with fellow South African Mbekezeli Mbokazi, already on the Fire’s roster.
