Andile Nebulane was shocked and hurt when a social media user accused him of being a bad father. The user, who hid behind a fake account named Amanda Waller, claimed that the actor and restaurant owner had multiple children with different women and neglected them. The user also questioned his boss, Mfundi Vundla, the producer of Generations: The Legacy, about his employee’s conduct.
Andile, who played Dali on the popular soapie, denied the allegations and said he was a proud and loving father. He told ZiMoja that he valued his family above everything and challenged the accuser to reveal their identity. He said he would not let his reputation be ruined by someone who did not know him. He also said he was worried about the impact of the accusations on his children, who had seen the posts and were hurt by them.
Andile decided to take action and hired a private investigator to find out who was behind the fake account. He spent more than R25 000 to track down the person, who turned out to be a woman named Lilitha Bolani from the Eastern Cape. Andile’s lawyer contacted Lilitha and demanded that she retract her statements and apologise publicly. Lilitha posted a brief apology on social media, saying that she had no right to comment on Andile’s personal life. She did not explain why she had made the false claims or how she knew him.
A close friend of Andile said that Lilitha had never met or spoken to Andile and that she had randomly targeted him. The friend said that Andile had worked hard to build his brand and that he was a good dad. The friend also said that Andile was planning to sue Lilitha for defamation if she did not correct her lies. The friend said that it was time to expose and stop social media bullies who hid behind fake accounts.
