Former Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane announced she is joining Economic Freedom Fighters today.
She was removed from her position as the Public Protector by Parliament before her term was over.
Now, Mkhwebane will likely be in parliament with the same people who ousted her from her previous role.
The leader of EFF, Julius Malema, has always supported Mkhwebane and it is not surprising that she joined the country’s third largest political party.
Mkhwebane expressed her gratitude to her former co-workers in her goodbye message.
She said, “We should be proud that only less than 5% of those reports were overturned and rejected.”
She also said, “I know how the office suffered from unprecedented and unfair attacks and how it affected many of you, but you did not give up because serving the people on the ground was your priority.”
Welcoming the top lawyer, the EFF commended Mkhwebane for her continued fight against corruption.
“The EFF commends Advocate Mkhwebane for joining the EFF as a sign of her continued opposition to corruption, state capture and the erosion of our Constitution and democracy,” read part of the statement
