Makhadzi has managed to keep her head above water after her record label woes and is reaping the fruits of her labor in the form of a new album. Taking to her Instagram timeline, she announced she was dropping her new album, which she said she put her heart and soul into.
Album Announcement
Makhadzi wrote on Instagram, “This is music with freedom, mbofholowo. I’m doing this independently. There are amazing featured/supporting artists in this album. It will blow you away. I strive in unity and being a proud African. I put my heart and soul in this again. Album is out midnight on all platforms.”

Departure from Open Mic
In May, Makhadzi announced her departure from her recording label Open Mic. She thanked the label for their contribution to her music career and said that their relationship produced four studio albums that all did very well.
Meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa
Makhadzi recently met President Cyril Ramaphosa who sang her praises, leaving the Ghanama hit maker proud of herself and how far she’s come. She wrote on Instagram, “Last night I cried so much. I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has shown me support all these years… Today I can shake hands with the president and he tells me straight in the face that I am a great performer. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am happy. Now I can work on my album with energy.”
