5 Bulawayo men steal diesel worth more than USD1800 from NRZ
Police arrested five people who stole more than 1400 litres of diesel from the National Railways of Zimbabwe. Among the five, two are employees of NRZ.
The Bulawayo police arrested Taurai Moyo, perfect Mpala, Bawinile Ndlovu, Oliver Mapenduka security officer at the National Railways of Zimbabwe and Thomas Musavengana an engineman at the organisation.
The police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirms that Taurai Moyo, Perfect Mpala and Bawinile Ndlovu were arrested in Thorngrove where the stolen fuel was being sold. These three implicate the other two NRZ employees. Inspector Ncube goes on to clarify the time and location of arrest. It was on the 7th of January 2021 at around 3pm.
The police receive an anonymous tip. This prompts investigations and the accused are seen just arriving at the premises and offloading some drums of diesel from their vehicle, a Ford Ranger registration number ABA 4348 belonging to Taurai Moyo.

At the place of arrest , the police retrieve four 200 litre drums, two 210 litre drums and seven 25 litre containers. High levels of activity at the site where the fuel was found triggered suspicion within the community.
After thorough interrogations, the accused admits to getting help from NRZ employees Thomas Musavengana and Oliver Mapenduka. In a detailed report, the arrested men admit to stealing by means of draining the fuel from trains in Nyamandlovu. The two NRZ employees are the suppliers of the information on amount, location and time to execute the theft.
