15 Foreign National drivers hired after 30 South Africans failed driving tests
An established Klerksdorp logistics company River North Carrier has reportedly hired 15 foreign national truck drivers after more than 30 local driver failed the driving test.
The driving test was a part of the recruitment process to test hands-on driving skills which includes reversing.
Last week South African truck drivers took to the streets to protest their frustrations of local companies prioritizing foreign nationals over locals.
Despite the protests ruled out as illegal, the local drivers continued with their protests under the #PutSouthAfricansFirst mantra.
Twitter users applauded the logistics company for giving South Africans the first preferences and urged job less drivers to polish their skills in order to snap the opportunities as they arise.
“In as much as we want these jobs and driving is not a rare skill which requires hiring foreign nationals, it is essential that local drivers polish their driving skills. What I have witnessed today defeats the purpose of out movement. We call other logistics companies to follow suit and provide skilled locals employment opportunities”
“But we can’t blame the company either since it gave them the 1st preference. It up to individuals going for any interviews to be prepared.” one Twitter user said.

South African drivers need refresher courses
The reason is South African drivers lack experience because they have been left out for so long by employers who were opting for foreigners because they can exploit them. That my friend, is the reason they failed.
We should also consider the fact that those 30 SAn drivers never drove b4 those 15 foreigners were driving since they came to SA its its high time now we don’t look at the problem only in the surface but look at it both sides it is not the SAns lack a driving skills.
