It never rains for the Zimbabwe Football Association. After the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) condemned Zimbabwe’s stadium as they are not suitable to host international matches, ZIFA sought the assistance of their South African counterparts SAFA to host their match against Algeria.
Initially ZIFA had been authorised to use the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. However things have changed for the worse. The stadium, which is used by Orlando Pirates Football Club, is no longer available for the warriors to use. ZIFA were notified in a letter.
ZIFA President told the Parliament’s Youth & Sports Committee on Thursday about the development.
“Initially they had agreed that we use Orlando Stadium. But they have notified us through a letter that it is no longer available. The only available stadium is Dobsonville. Dobsonville is a township in greater Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. The Stadium is home to Moroka Swallows Football Club.
